Our story

Founded in 2026, the Steven P. Shafer (SPS) Foundation exists to preserve Steven Shafer's legacy by bringing cultural enrichment to western Maryland — showcasing art, technology, and collectibles the way he loved to share them.

Rather than lease a single gallery, SPS runs ‘pop-up’ exhibitions and studios that travel between Hagerstown, Cumberland, and Frederick — meeting people where they already are, without the overhead of a permanent space, and free to change with whatever the community wants to make next.
